Made in the Midlands member Glenlake International is a leading manufacturer of plastic injection mouldings based in the heart of the West Midlands.

Established more than 27 years ago, the business has successfully seen a wide spread of new market opportunities of late and continues to work closely with new and existing customers to develop their activity by nearly 20% over the last three years.

Jack Salmon, Commercial Manager, explained during a recent visit from CEO, Jason Pitt (Made in the Midlands);

"The business is uniquely split, and customers often ask the question as to how our different markets range. We are split distinctly into three areas of business, which has allowed us to often withstand the fluctuations that businesses, even ourselves, have found ourselves in during a change within the economic climate. We are fortunate as well to have our own product range of Small Part Storage Bins which ranges in sizes, colours, but also a bespoke recycled range, of which are becoming an increasingly popular product line during a time where environmental issues are at the forefront of our minds.

In addition to this, we have utilised our expertise from other areas of the business to crossover on products to add value to existing and potential new customers. We have found to offer added value through our in house assembly areas to provide customers with both manufactured and finished parts, which ultimately has supported us in retaining and securing new contracts for the business and allows customers to receive a fully assembled product".

Our vision moving forward is to further cement ourselves as a leading Plastic Injection Moulding Company within the region and naturally grow over the next three years. We have had previous heavy investment periods over the past five years and continue to do so this year with an added premises space alongside our current facility

With this in mind, we are continually investing in our people and have grown our workforce by around 15% across the past twelve months and look to continue to add further personnel to our business moving forward"

Arriving at Glenlake it's evident to see immediately, a well-presented mould shop with machinery capacity ranging from 30t up to 550t, added Jason Pitt.

"We are also keen to highlight the importance of innovation within the workplace, we consider ourselves to not only be a supplier, but more an innovative supply chain partner with our existing and new customer portfolio and we've seen this through products evolving. We work closely with customers to overcome potential issues they may have or problems that can arise during the manufacturing process and pride ourselves on an honest ethos of solving problems and driving innovative ideas and innovation further."

Demonstrating some of this philosophy in their business, Glenlake has added predominantly within their own product range of Small Parts Bins, but also some of the wider subcontract work, an active recycling approach, where products are produced from 100% recycled material or utilising waste through granulation methods to add further efficiencies, which therefore reflect to the customer.
